DANCE WITH (AND UNDER!) THE STARS THIS SUMMER AT TAVERN ON THE GREEN
“7 Nights and 7 Sounds” Offers Celebratory Fun At NYC’s Most Glamorous Night Club

The theme for this season’s annual transformation of the landmark restaurant’s flower bower of a garden into the city’s most seductive outdoor nightclub is “7 Nights 7 Sounds.” Those varying sounds - from Latin to swing to good ole rock n’ roll - begin every night at 7 pm starting May 31 through September with just a $10 cover charge. For just $65, a VIP Garden Pass is available that confers unlimited admissions throughout the season to holders.
Dancing is ingrained in Tavern on the Green’s heritage. Since the former sheepfold became a restaurant in 1934, toe-tappers from Grace Kelly to Michael Jackson have glided through the doors to cut a rug. In fact, on Wednesdays, the 11-piece Tavern on the Green Garden All-Star Band, who made Tavern’s garden THE place to be for dancing last summer, will fill the night with American pop classics, jazz and swing notes that evoke minds eye images of fleet footed legends like Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers and Gene Kelly (all of whom patronized Tavern on the Green at one time or another!) The band is led by Julian Pressley and boasts the talents of music veterans such as bassist, Calvin Hill, who played with John Coltrane; Tommy Morimoto, whose tenor sax has accompanied Les Paul, and legendary trombonist, Eddie Bert, a Duke Ellington veteran. All 11 band members have performed at major clubs and recording studios throughout the world.
“7 Nights and 7 Sounds” begins at 7 pm nightly through September, except during inclement weather.* Dinner patrons may dine in the garden without a cover charge, except on Wednesday evenings when the garden swings with the Garden All-Stars.
Dancing is not the only attraction. One of the largest outdoor bars in the city, Tavern’s 40-foot, hand-carved bar, accents the nightspot by offering a selection of seasonal beverage favorites along with cocktail classics. And from 3 pm to 12 am nightly, a bar menu with finger foods such as Oriental dim sum and margharita pizza will be available. For guests interested in a more substantial meal, Tavern on the Green offers al fresco dining from the à la carte menus all evening until Executive Chef John Milito closes the kitchen at 11:00 p.m. on weekdays and 11:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
