 A LITTLE HISTORY 

The Lorenz Latin Dance Studio, owned and operated by Howie
and Pat Lorenz, is the Premier Salsa Dance Studio for Queens
Brooklyn, Bronx, New York City, Staten Island and the Long
Island area, and has attracted students from all over the
tri-state area.  Our Studio offers many different classes during
the week.  Classes range from Salsa/Mambo ON 2(commonly
called "New York Style Salsa", "Nightclub Style Salsa" or just
"Salsa On 2"),Latin Hustle, Swing, and Ballroom.  Our
beautifully new spacious Dance Studio occupies a central
location in Glendale, Queens, convenient by public transportation
and by car. The Studio's staff possess varied experience and
talent in all styles of dance, and we pride ourselves in our ability
to make everyone comfortable in our welcoming, friendly and
social dancing atmosphere.

    
OUR PROGRAM
Group Classes

Group classes are the mainstay of our program. Our classes

concentrate on musicality, shines (open fancy footwork away from

your partner), leading and following, step patterns, partnering skills,

and just learning to have fun while social dancing.  You do not need

a partner.  Students rotate partners, better enabling them to adapt

to dancing with people with different levels of experience and to

develop their leading/following skills.   

Partnerwork Workshops

Every 4th Sunday of each month we hold our 100% Salsa Turn
Pattern Workshop for all levels of students, to strictly focus on turn combinations, technique, partner connection, developing style,
dancing more smoothly and much more.

Salsa Socials - Every Friday Night

Our weekly Friday night Salsa Dance Social called MAMBO
ON MYRTLE, is the rage and the place to be on every Friday
night!  It's a great opportunity to meet and dance with other students
from all the other classes that you haven't met and also others from
the dancing community and other dance studios.  Admission
is only $5 for our registered students.  However, anyone is
welcome to attend these salsa socials!  ($10 for guests).
We strongly recommend these sessions because they give
you an opportunity to work with different partners on step patterns
you may be having difficulty with in class.  After all, learning the
steps is great, but they aren't of much use if you can't actually
dance them. The key to becoming a good dancer is practice.
All of our Instructors are available to dance with you,
demonstrate upcoming steps, and answer questions every
Friday Night  — take advantage of these Friday Night socials!

Our Studio regularly plans student group outings (called
"student field trips") to Latin clubs, various dance socials,
local dance events and nightclubs.  Our instructors and
students exhibit and enjoy the camaraderie and friendship
that The Lorenz Latin Dance Studio offers.

Children's Salsa Program

Saturday mornings are salsa classes for children ages 6 to 12
and run for one hour.  The new students enter the 12:00 - 1:00
class and the intermediate class for our children runs from
11:00 - 12:00 pm.  Monthly tuition is only $35.

Our professional and talented children's instructors are
Liz Ramos, Jennifer Sanchez, Katie Lugo, Justine
Rodriguez, Stephanie Felipe and Martha Jacome.
 

Ladies' & Men's Styling Workshops

Liz Ramos, one of our salsa instructors and talented stylist,
will be conducting a Ladies' Styling Class every third Sunday
of each month. Cost is only $15.00.  The Class is from
1:00 - 2:30 pm for beginner/intermediate students.  She will teach
you all the styling secrets and the hottest styling moves.
She will show you how to look outstanding on the dance floor
and break down SIMPLY how to move your hands and body
to mambo shines, as well as in partnerwork. These workshops
are a MUST for budding salseras!  AND for the guys, we have
David Corchado, the mambo community's up and coming rising
new star, holding the Men's Styling Class from 3:00 - 4:30 pm.

Weddings

If you're planning a wedding, we have special packages for couples

about to share that first dance together. We will help you with all

aspects of your first dance including partnership connection, step

patterns, and choreography.

Private Lessons

For those students who prefer individual attention (as opposed to
group classes), and those who want to reinforce what they have
learned in our group classes, we offer private lessons.  With
private lessons, personal attention is focused on developing
the individual's or couple's leading and following skills, and
coaching is given towards the goal of improving posture,
frame, and connection.
