The very welcoming and friendly Melody Andino invites everyone to attend this mambo social held at her newly renovated Dance Atlantic Studio. In addition to the main dance floor, during the summer there is an outdoor backyard area for relaxing and socializing. The Dance Atlantic Studio teaches salsa and other dances to children and adults and these socials attract dancers from nearby and elsewhere in New York City as well. This is one of the "Brooklyn circle of salsa studios" which have grown very popular in the last several years spreading mambo On 2 throughout the borough.
An On 2 mambo social held in a neighborhood dance studio with 1 medium-to-large size room, plus an outdoor backyard available in good weather for relaxing and socializing. The crowd ranges from 30 to 60+ dancers, depending on whether it's a regular social or a special event with several performances or other special attractions, and depending on whether there are many dancers from the wider mambo community. Special events held at a larger location attract more dancers.
Music is Almost entirely pure classic salsa plus a little cha cha, with a little merengue once in a while played by DJ Juan Montoya and occasional guest DJs playing on a professional sound system where dancers dance Almost entirely "New York On 2" timing and style.
Held at the newly renovated Dance Atlantic Studio, 3390 Atlantic Avenue (between Crescent and Hemlock Streets), Brooklyn, NY 11208, in the Cypress Hills neighborhood. from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM or later.
